Nature's Stream

Come sit with me beside nature's stream, no need for words, we can simply dream. Nature has given us a place, in which to reflect, only asking in return for our respect.

Winter's Plight

The next time you feel as though you have "the winter blues", please remember that our wildlife friends struggle during the winter months as well.

Whitetail Deer In Winter

It has been a long hard winter here. I believe the wildlife are looking forward to summer's warmth just as much as we are.

The Magic Of Springtime!

Can you feel the magic of Spring's subtle approach? I can feel it in the air, in the crisp, fresh breeze letting us know summer won't be far behind. The awakening of new life, all around us in abundance! Oh how I love this time of year. The rebirth of nature after a long cold winter.

Albino Raccoon

Albinism is a defect of melanin production that results in little or no color (pigment) in the skin, hair, and eyes. This condition isn't just an occurrence among humans, but among nature's animals as well, such as the raccoon pictured above.

Compact View Of The Birds

I recently came across a bird nest that was built high up in the ceiling of an abandoned building. The bird had built the nest so close to the ceiling that I had to get creative just to get a sneak peek and a photograph of the little ones within.

Wooden Oddity Or Odd Tree?

I find this tree to be a wooden oddity of sorts, considering as you can see from the photograph, that there are two trunks firmly grown into the ground, with one trunk growing into the side of the other tree, creating a natural arch.

The Courtship And Mating Of Hummingbirds

"Click On Photographs To View In Full Size"

The courtship and mating of hummingbirds is fascinating to observe. They display spectacular styles of flight. Before the courtship begins the male typically arrives first and establishes a territory rich in nectar. He will chase off all other males and hope the nectar attracts the females. For a while as the females attempt to feed he pretends to chase them off. Then the male hummingbird goes into his mating ritual. Thus begins spectacular patterns of flight, with wonderful maneuvers. It's one thing to watch this courtship of nature, but even more amazing to capture it on film.

The Bird Nest

I have always been amazed by a bird's natural instincts, skill, and know how when building the nest for the baby birds. If one really takes notice of the craftsmanship that is put into the bird nest, it is a wondrous creation. To me they resemble a finely woven basket, and much like the basket whose purpose is the safe keeping of objects, so too is the bird nest for the safe keeping of the baby birds. The way of nature I suppose. A wonderful thing, indeed.

Butterfly Gathering

As of lately I've been spending time in the outdoors enjoying the fresh spring air and the wonders of nature. I've also been enjoying the return of the Tiger Swallowtail butterflies. I've been capturing them. Not to worry I use a camera as opposed to a butterfly net. *wink wink*  They are beautiful to observe.

Wildlife

When I see a taxidermy display of a wild animal, it evokes in me the thought of how much more beautiful the animal would appear, when seen in the wild of his natural habitat.
